PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 12th January 2013 is ‘Celebrate’

There is much to celebrate in my life and the world around me. Hard to decide which element to show with this weeks photohunt. So I have gone with a mixed bag.

Ceri celebrating
One of my dogs Ceri having a celebration for the New Year
(No dogs were harmed in the celebrations)
The boys in the kitchen
Adam (the taller one) is teaching Jordan (his nephew) the fine art of pizza dough making.
As a mother I can celebrate that my ‘boys’ (son and grand-son) know how to cook and be self-sufficent.

My local library celebrated 20 years of operation with a large range of fun activities.
In love
And then I celebrated my engagement to David after my late husband Ray (seen in the photo on the wall) had passed away several years before. I never expected to be celebrating this event again.

About the PhotoHunt

The Saturday PhotoHunt is a photography blog “meme” that was started in March 2006

To play, you simply post a photo on your own blog that represents the theme. These are snapshots that you might have taken on a trip, with your family, or in your home. It is important to use only your own photos.

We are not professional photographers . . . although some are. We are bloggers who are having fun with different themes and sharing our photography. You can see more PhotoHunt entries at Whistlestop PhotoHunt and on Facebook

PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 8th December 2012 is ‘Zesty’

Gluhwein
While in Germany and Netherlands last year I took the opportunity to drink Gluhwein several times. Each had a different variety of spices and were zesty with the lemon or orange slices. All were very enjoyable. This glass of Gluhwein I had at lunch in the Netherlands, the restaurant also gave us a little bowl of Christmas biscuits and chocolates.

You can make your own Gluhwein very easily

PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 3rd November 2012 is ‘Seasonal’

One of the seasonal activities in my area is cockling.

1st November is the beginning of the ‘cockle’ season in South Australia. Cockles are a bivalve mollusks of the family Cardiidae, having rounded or heart-shaped shells with radiating ribs – similar to clams or pippins. Cockling is a seasonal activity because none are allowed to be harvested during their breeding season.

Sunrise

Going cockling
The cockle (similar to pipi’s) season has opened and these two were going out to the ocean beach to do some cockling. The cockles are used mainly for bait but you can buy them to eat, usually from the local fishermen.

Transport
Truck being moved by barge and boat on Mundoo Channel, Hindmarsh Island.
The truck is used during the ‘cockle’ season on the Coorong beach and at the end of the season is bought back for maintenance. The cockle season ends on 31st May.
