PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 8th September is ‘Stuck’

Boat on the sand bank

Australia has just come out of a period of drought and I live at the end of the River Murray (longest in Australia) where it finally exits to the ocean.  The Murray River was being affected by the drought in Australia and water flows are minimal. The river level had dropped so much that there were sand banks appearing and the river shoreline was expanding. The water level had changed dramatically. This boat is in the middle of the river and well and truly stuck.

About the PhotoHunt

The Saturday PhotoHunt is a photography blog “meme” that was started in March 2006

To play, you simply post a photo on your own blog that represents the theme. These are snapshots that you might have taken on a trip, with your family, or in your home. It is important to use only your own photos.

We are not professional photographers . . . although some are. We are bloggers who are having fun with different themes and sharing our photography. You can see more PhotoHunt entries at Whistlestop PhotoHunt and on Facebook

PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 1st September is ‘Quiet’

In the Australian bush
Dave sitting in front of the camp-fire on a foggy morning at the campsite at Mootatunga, South Australia on the June long weekend 2007. Ceri, our dog poses beside David. We are the only people around for many miles and it is very quiet here.

PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 4th August 2012 is ‘Oooooo’

This theme was hard for me to decide on the photo because I have so many photos I have taken over the years that made me go Oooooo. So in the end I culled it down to 5

Bee
I love how I captured this bee and flower so perfectly.

Sunrise
I do live in a great location. I have so many sunrise pictures that have made me go Oooooo over the years.

Hindmarsh Island bridge
Who would have imagined ever that the mighty Murray river in Australia (longest river here ) would be so depleted of water due to drought and over-allocation upstream that the bridge joining the mainland to the island that I live on would be exposed to it’s pylons right out to what would normally be the middle of the river. When I saw this 3rd support column from the bank sitting in sand I was horrified and went Oooooo

Bud opening
Isn’t nature just so wonderful!

Sunrise
Oooooo never a same sunrise ever!
