PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 26th January 2013 is ‘Knitted’

I taught myself to knit when I was 19 which was many many many…… years ago. I recently knitted some baby clothes for an online friend as a present for her expected baby. My local town also was yarn bombed as part of an Arts Festival and I loved how structures were covered in knitting.

Blanket
A soft yellow baby blanket with a lovely lacy pattern which was not hard to follow or knit.

Baby booties
I love to knit baby booties, so simple and quick to produce a finished set, yet I cannot knit socks. Go figure!

Yarn bombing at library
The tree and bike rack in front of the local library were yarn bombed and I am seriously impressed with the knitted effect.
Yarn bombing at Rotunda
The local rotunda also received being yarn bombed with colourful knitted decorations.

And as an aside today (26th January) is Australia Day Celebrated annually on 26 January, the date commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove, New South Wales in 1788 when Australia was first colonised

About the PhotoHunt

The Saturday PhotoHunt is a photography blog “meme” that was started in March 2006

To play, you simply post a photo on your own blog that represents the theme. These are snapshots that you might have taken on a trip, with your family, or in your home. It is important to use only your own photos.

We are not professional photographers . . . although some are. We are bloggers who are having fun with different themes and sharing our photography. You can see more PhotoHunt entries at Whistlestop PhotoHunt and on Facebook

PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 19th January 2013 is ‘Haven’

I live in an area called The Coorong and it is an area that is protected by a world-wide Ramsar Convention agreement. My area is a wetlands of international importance for birds.

Many birds seek haven in the area.

These pictures were all taken from my front door. I have a haven as well in where I live on Hindmarsh Island in South Australia.

This is my day on 12th January 2013.

It is a Saturday.  Mild day weatherwise, picked my first ‘big’ crop from my vege garden. The kitchen re-arrangement continues with the old stove finally going and the new gas stove moved into its final place, cupboards and benches and tables all rearranged and the items taken out and sorted and stuff everywhere. Has been chaos in the kitchen area for 2 months now. The end is in sight. This is just my temporary kitchen (last temp kitchen lasted 16 years LOL) because I plan to have new cupboards etc later this year after building work is completed. But it is a start (finally).
