Hindmarsh Island, South Australia Island magic

November 12th 2009 was going to be a hot day in the middle of what was turning out to be a hot week. 5 days so far of over 35ºC. This is unusual for November and we have had temperatures of over 35ºC and up to 42ºC here on Hindmarsh Island. We wanted to go shopping at Mount Barker (75km – 47miles away) and so decided to leave early so that we could be home before mid-day and the extreme heat hit us. Well it was hot!

The 12th September was a Saturday this month. Dave had been away all week at the Adelaide Show doing St Johns Ambulance duties and was not due home until tea time. The day was extremely hot and very windy. I went into Goolwa and then over to Middleton to do a gravestone measuring project but it was so windy there that I only measured at one cemetery and checked one of my geocaches I had hidden.

In the Jungle

Dimi, our long-haired Chihuahua is nearly hidden in the long grass in the front yard. She can’t even walk through it but has to hop over the grass to get out of it.

This was mowed 3 weeks ago but we have had some good rains and warm weather (unusual for winter/August) and the grass is just bolting up.
