PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 2nd March is ‘Steel’

Seeing the forces involved to bend steel from the New York World Trade Centre, USA terrorism attack at a memorial to Firefighters in Christchurch, New Zealand was a sobering and awe filled visit.

PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 11th August 2012 is ‘Numb’

This theme proved harder than I expected. How to convey ‘numb’?

In the end I decided to use two pictures from my visit to Berlin to the Holocaust Memorial.

This memorial to the WWII holocaust victims is a poignant and quite moving place to visit. Each block is a different height and you can walk between the blocks, some are taller than yourself and others shorter and the paths between go up and down. The blocks also are not straight, some lean in and some lean out.

This rose was on top of one of the blocks and even though you are numb by the enormity of what this memorial represented the rose showed that someone still cared and remembered.

My Father-in-law Robert Crawford died last week and this was 2 days after the date of my late husband Raymond’s death. Ray was the eldest and only son.

My Father-in-law was 90 years old and had been married to my Mother-on-law Violet for 66 years.
