PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 2nd March is ‘Steel’

Seeing the forces involved to bend steel from the New York World Trade Centre, USA terrorism attack at a memorial to Firefighters in Christchurch, New Zealand was a sobering and awe filled visit.

PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 23rd February 2013 is ‘Upper’

My youngest son and his girlfriend bought their first house and it was a deceased estate and had been empty for 18 months while the elderly owner was in a nursing home. After her death the family put the house up for sale as they settled her estate.

My son was given the key by the owners family so he can do some painting etc. before the settlement date.

This house is a ‘do-er upper’

Sold! The For Sale board asks the buyer to take up the challenge.

Front of houseThe front of the house and it is a nice first home, it just needs a bit of loving care and repairs

Back verandahThe back verandah

All ready to clean and paintI washed all the interior walls down in preparation for painting before the settlement date

Find the water meter18 months being unoccupied meant that the yards were all overgrown. My son was looking for the water meter amongst the ‘jungle’. The grey cover behind him was the gas meter so that was easy to find.

My son and his girlfriend have now owned their ‘do-er-upper’ for nearly 2 years and many things have changed but it still is a work in progress as money and time permits.

PhotoHunt theme for the week beginning 16th February 2013 is ‘Miniscule’

One morning as I was putting out my shop’s signs I saw these miniscule toadstools appear overnight in a small strip of earth alongside the shop wall.

They were so pretty.

Toadstools
I love the frills and dots. They were about 2 inches / 5 cm tall.
Toadstools
24 hours old these toadstools are changing, not as bright coloured and they are losing their dots and frills
Tiny toadstools
You can see how miniscule they are in context to their surroundings

Please leave at least a miniscule comment
